Punjabi audiences mourn the loss of Jaswinder Bhalla Punjabi comedian, who passed away at the age of 65. Bhalla suffered a brain stroke on Wednesday evening and was hospitalized for the last couple of days.
He died at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, after battling illness for the past few months, during the early hours of Friday. Meanwhile, his last rites are scheduled for Saturday at Balongi, and many colleagues from Punjabi cinema will attend.

As reported by BBC Punjabi, he was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where doctors revealed that he had also lost a significant amount of blood. Sadly, he breathed his last in the early hours of Friday. Meanwhile, his last rites are scheduled for Saturday at Balongi, where many colleagues from Punjabi cinema will attend.

A Career Full of Laughter
Bhalla entertained audiences for nearly three decades, gaining fame for his comic roles in Punjabi films. He started his career with iconic comedies like Dulha Bhatti and later appeared in Jaspal Bhatti’s Hindi comedy Mahaul Theek Hai (1999).
Over the years, he starred in major hits such as Jatt and Juliet, Sardaar Ji, and the Carry On Jatta series. Notably, his portrayal of Advocate Dhillon in all three Carry On Jatta films made him a household name. Additionally, Jaswinder Bhalla Punjabi comedian, made even little roles memorable with catchphrases.
Shinda Shinda No Papa, Bhalla’s final movie, starring Hina Khan and Gippy Grewal, came out in 2024. His work affected many up-and-coming actors and continuously delighted viewers.

Bhalla married Parmdeep, a fine arts teacher in Chandigarh. Their son, Pukhraj Bhalla, followed in his father’s footsteps into acting. Although Pukhraj initially trained as an engineer, he later appeared in music videos and films. Interestingly, father and son shared the screen in the 2013 movie Stupid 7.
Bhalla leaves behind a remarkable legacy in comedy. Consequently, generations of Punjabi actors continue to draw inspiration from his performances. Additionally, his work will keep drawing in crowds from all over the world, solidifying his status as one of the most well-known Punjabi actors.
