The PTA unregistered mobile devices crackdown is underway. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has warned that all unregistered handsets will soon lose access to local networks. Citizens must register their phones through the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) to keep using mobile services.
PTA said unregistered devices create risks for national security and allow fraud in finance and cyberspace. The authority declared that owning, selling, or using such phones is illegal and punishable by law.
Officials urged citizens not to buy or sell unregistered handsets. These devices are not part of the official system and cannot work legally on local networks. Anyone using them risks service suspension and possible legal action.
The authority gave users limited time to comply. To avoid disruption, citizens should check their phone’s status on the DIRBS portal and complete registration. This move will boost security, protect users, and stop fraud. The PTA unregistered mobile devices policy reflects the authority’s commitment to a safer telecom sector.
