In a significant diplomatic move, ISLAMABAD witnessed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, engaging in crucial telephone conversations with Saudi and Egyptian Foreign Ministers to discuss pressing regional developments and the escalating situation in Gaza. Following Hamas’ response to President Trump’s peace proposals, Pakistan, along with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, agreed to remain engaged and aligned in their efforts to help achieve a just, lasting peace in Gaza. During discussions with FM Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, ongoing diplomatic efforts, including engagements and consultations among the eight Arab-Islamic countries and the United States in New York, were reviewed, focusing on immediate and durable ceasefire, ensuring unhindered humanitarian assistance, and securing lasting peace in Gaza.
Ishaq Dar appreciated the Saudi Foreign Minister’s continued engagement and constructive role in these efforts. Both sides discussed recent developments, including Hamas’ response to the US President Donald Trump proposal. The Ministers reaffirmed their firm commitment to the Palestinian cause and agreed to remain closely engaged with Arab and Islamic partners, as well as the international community, to advance a just, comprehensive, lasting peace based on the two-state solution. Statements issued by the Foreign Office Spokesperson highlighted key matters of bilateral relations, grave regional developments, and the ongoing diplomatic efforts, emphasizing the importance of collective initiatives to achieve lasting peace in Gaza.
Meanwhile, FM Dar also spoke with the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Dr Badr Abdelatty, exchanging views on regional developments and the situation in Gaza. The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s support and welcoming of recent developments, including Hamas’ response to the proposed peace plan, which provides hope for an end to the bloodshed. Additionally, the DPM extended an invitation to the Egyptian Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan in the near future, which he graciously accepted, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to diplomatic efforts and fostering lasting peace.
