Newcastle United have responded to recent reports suggesting Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool is a £130m ‘done deal’. The club says the striker could still stay at St James’ Park despite Nick Woltemade’s signing.
Alexander Isak Transfer: Newcastle’s Position
Newcastle United are ready to reintegrate Alexander Isak into the first team even after signing Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart. The German joined on a long-term contract, with a fee exceeding the £63m Newcastle paid for Isak.
Media reports suggested Newcastle might sell Isak, but the club believes he can return after the summer transfer window closes.
No Urgent Need to Sell
Woltemade strengthens Newcastle’s striker ranks after Callum Wilson left. Head coach Eddie Howe does not see him as a direct replacement for Isak.
If no other striker joins before the window closes on Monday at 7 pm GMT, Isak can remain part of the squad.
Sources say Newcastle are financially strong. The club does not need to sell Isak to meet PSR requirements or offset the £200m summer spending.
Eddie Howe Makes His Stance Clear
Isak trained separately on Thursday and Friday at Benton, while the squad prepared for the Leeds United match.
Howe told reporters:
“I have a footballing preference, but I must consider all factors. I cannot control the situation, so I will let it take its course.”
He added:
“Being emotionally involved leads to poor decisions. I focused on the squad while waiting for the matter to resolve.”
