When the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education decided to shift from manual handling to a digital system, it became a defining step in making office work more paperless. I’ve personally seen how tedious correspondence, records, and even the issuance of certificates to students once relied on endless paperwork. Now, with the transition supported by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) through e-Filing and the Office Automation System (e-FOAS), tasks like file tracking, record management, and other routine functions are being performed electronically.

In practice, this means less clutter, fewer risks of lost or tampered files, and more efficiency. Each branch has been directed to safeguard login credentials, update them, and avoid sharing access with unauthorized individuals. As an education consultant, I’ve noticed that such digital filing brings a transparent system, one where records can be traced easily and verified without delay. Officials have rightly noted that the digital framework helps reduce delays caused by paperwork, minimize the risk, and even create a more transparent workflow across departments.

Interestingly, this approach isn’t unique. Similar systems were introduced earlier in the Civil Secretariat and other departments, where digitization significantly improved record-keeping, reduced dependency on physical files, and streamlined processes. From my own experience working on such projects, I can say the framework encourages accountability and reduces the burden of manual checks. By moving online, officials have not only modernized but also created an environment where efficiency thrives, and unnecessary delays are expected to be a thing of the past.
