The case began when a resident of Sangla Hill filed a complaint. He claimed fraudsters cheated him out of millions of rupees by pretending to represent an international company. As a result, officials launched a detailed investigation to track those responsible.

Investigators found that the scammers used multiple bank accounts and mobile numbers to collect money. In one case alone, the victim lost Rs. 1.28 million. Furthermore, the fraudsters created fake WhatsApp profiles and used international numbers. They also ran deceptive online ads to lure people into investing in fake digital projects.
Legal Action and Next Steps
A case (FIR No. 170/2025) has been registered at the NCCIA Police Station in Gujranwala. The charges include Sections 13, 14, and 16 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). In addition, Sections 419, 420, 468, 471, and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) apply.
Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to identify all those involved. Moreover, they are working to recover the money stolen from victims.
